About the winery
Kishor Winery was established in 2010 in Kfar Kishorit – a village for people with special needs surrounded by natural forest and the landscapes of the Western Galilee.
The ancient winepresses, hint at a story that is not completely deciphered. About 2000 or 3000 years ago, on the mountain overlooking the shores of Nahariya and Acre, passed a magnificent wine route . At the roadside were many vineyards and a thriving wine industry developed from them.
But the vineyards disappeared with the departure of the Phoenicians and the Crusaders, and for more than two thousand years, not a single vineyard was planted on this mountain
In the summer of 2007, the decision was taken to establish a winery in Kfar Kishorit, we planted the first vineyards overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Kishorit Village is home to about 175 graduates with special needs and the vineyard and winery are two of the employment branches of the village. The members, who are partners in the vineyard and wine production.
Today, planted on 11 hectares, 500 meters above sea level, 11 varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Riesling and Chardonnay. The high temperature differences between day and night, which characterize the area and the rocky limestone and terra rosa , are an ideal environment for the long and slow ripening of the grapes and give our wines their unique character
In 2014 we opened our visitor center, which overlooks an exciting landscape of vineyards and lush mountains. Enjoy a short talk about the wine production process, a tour of the oak barrels, where the wines are aged and enjoy the flavors of the prepared wines. Everything is KOSHER.
From the first harvest in 2010 we produced about 9,000 bottles, and during the next few weeks we developed, learned, equipped ourselves with the latest wine production technologies and recruited wine consultants and experts. When all our vineyards reach maturity, we hope to produce 100,000 bottles of wine a year, and we are confident that we will continue to be excited.
